You can say Yes to caffeine

Just this month, two new peer reviewed studies were published that gave us two more reasons to drink coffee (or other caffeinated drinks). I will start with busting the hydration myth. How many times have we been told that coffee dehydrates us? Wrong!! I am so happy to hear that. According to the study published in the journal PLOS ONE, there was not a significant difference of urine volume and concentration for water versus coffee drinkers. That means you can count your cup of joe as part of your daily water intake.

Another coffee study published this month in the journal Nature Neuroscience found that coffee enables us to retain certain types of memory after it is consumed. It enhances pattern separation which deals with the memory of images. The amount of caffeine used was 200mg which is equivalent to one strong cup of coffee or two regular coffees.

Time for a coffee break...
